Hello, I'm Bear :)
Back in 2016, I went on my first camping trip, and spending time surrounded by natural beauty, was a game-changer. For over two decades, I'd been glued to a computer screen, even when I started working remotely eight years earlier. Deep down, I knew there had to be more to life than staring at pixels all day in four walls.
Fast forward to the next year, and I'm making this crazy decision with my amazing wife: we're selling everything, buying an RV, and hitting the road to explore the US. Talk about a wild time!
Then comes 2018, a year that threw me for a loop. Another company acquisition and round of layoffs led to me being out of a job after 13 years. It was a shock, sure, but also a blessing in disguise. Suddenly, I had this blank canvas in front of me, which was both exhilarating and terrifying.
So, with my amazing wife and our trusty 1998 Safari Trek – Cardamom – by my side, I dove headfirst into learning auto mechanics. It was a steep curve, but I had some incredible mentors cheering me on every step of the way. Huge thanks to Mitch, Don, Brad, Gary, Al, Lee, and Carl for your wisdom and encouragement!
During that time, I discovered a lot about who I am and what matters to me. Immersing myself in different cultures and lifestyles sparked a new way of thinking about the world and how I fit into it.
See, for me, the best part of my work has always been making things better for the end-user. Whether it's software or products, I am always dedicated to ensuring they're top-notch – tested, delivered stable, and meet real-world needs.
That drive led me to start Go-To Techie, where I helped folks who aren't so tech-savvy navigate the digital world. And let me tell you, working with people from diverse backgrounds across the entire country while cruising through some of the most beautiful scenery – was a blast!
But in 2022, I felt the itch to rejoin the traditional workforce. I landed a gig at RV LIFE, where I got to work with a very talented team. It was tough when it came to an end, but I'm excited to see what the future holds.
So here I am now, on the lookout for my next big adventure. With nearly 25 years of tech know-how, I'm itching to dive into a role that values precision, critical thinking, and making a real difference in people's lives. If that sounds like your company, I'd love to chat!
